What does the study involve?
Mothers and children are invited to participate in our laboratory playroom at the Early Child Development Lab on the University of Illinois campus, at your home, or virtually via Zoom. Visits take between 60 to 90 minutes and involve your child pilot testing a new mobile sensing device (called the LittleBeats device) while you and your child complete a series of interactive tasks, such as a play and puzzle task.
Following each visit, we will provide a LittleBeats device for you to bring home. We ask that your child wears the device multiple hours per day in your home while your family goes about its regular routine.
Mothers and fathers (when available) will be asked to fill out surveys.
Is my family eligible?
Your family is eligible to participate if:
- Your child is between 1 and 5 years of age.
- Your child has no known hearing loss or problems.
- Your child has no known heart abnormalities
When are visits scheduled?
Visits are scheduled at your convenience and include weekdays, weekends, and evenings. Free on-site parking is available. We are also happy to provide child care for siblings.
